Clube das Miçangas

Clube das Miçangas is a collective of women dedicated to empowering individuals through the exchange and dissemination of manual skills and knowledge. We started our workshops believing that shared knowledge transforms.

As co-founder of the collective in 2016, I have since taken on the role of co-coordinator, overseeing the organization and hosting of all events. I facilitate learning classes and continually explore new craft-related experiences for the local community in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Clube das Miçangas emerged from a shared restlessness and a desire to transform creative processes and personal relationships.

We value:

- Having a sense of community and meeting new people
- Spontaneous exchange space, nurturing creative processes
- Horizontal exchange, contrary to inaccessible design courses

Our process is simple yet effective: if someone possesses valuable craft knowledge and is willing to share it, and if there are others eager to learn, we facilitate the exchange of this knowledge. Our aim is to create an enriching experience for all involved. 🧶

since 2016, we have had

50+ events

Between the different workshops formats, we taught

25+ craft techniques

With the help of young artists, we taught

400+ people

We take pride in our collaborations and partnerships with esteemed organizations and individuals such as Ladies Wine Design, Virada Sustentável, Feira Jardim Secreto, Think Olga (including our participation in the exhibition of the movie "Chega de Fiu Fiu"), as well as renowned designers Paula Cruz and Jackson Araújo. Moreover, we have collaborated with over 30 talented young artists and crafters, fostering a vibrant and supportive creative community.

Recognition

We had the honour of being named finalists at the prestigious Tomie Ohtake Leroy Merlin Design Award. In 2018, with the guidance of our mentor, Jackson Araújo, we embarked on an exciting journey to create and prototype a digital service and platform.

Our goal was to establish a stronger connection with our local community and expand our impact by establishing additional chapters across the country. This platform aimed to strengthen the network of participants and facilitate communication outside of our workshops. The app provided crafters with an easy way to engage with our mission, receive updates, and register for upcoming workshops.

Our achievement as finalists in the award allowed us to showcase our work in a collective exhibition held at the Tomie Ohtake Foundation in São Paulo, further amplifying our presence and influence in the design community.
